Northern Irish brewery cans Republic over ‘unworkable’ deposit return scheme

Northern Irish co-operative brewery Lacada has pulled out of the Republic of Ireland market due to the additional red tape and costs involved in complying with the deposit return scheme (DRS).

Rodger Doherty, Lacada director, said the additional cost of labelling its products differently makes the scheme “unworkable” for the company.
