Week 4 of the 2023 XFL season is in the books, and those betting the favorites on XFL odds had to be especially pleased with how the slate turned out. Sportsbooks have now released XFL Week 5 odds, which we’ll break down momentarily.
The Week 5 ledger kicks off Thursday night with a Houston Roughnecks at Seattle Sea Dragons showdown. It continues Saturday and Sunday and also features a highly intriguing DC Defenders at St. Louis Battlehawks clash. Bet on any of the games by clicking on XFL Week 5 odds below.
XFL Week 5 Odds
Houston Roughnecks at Seattle Sea Dragons
Lumen Field; Seattle, Washington
The Roughnecks pushed their record to 4-0 in noteworthy fashion, throttling the winless Guardians by a 44-16 score on Saturday night. The Sea Dragons moved to 2-2 with a hard-fought 15-6 victory against the Brahmas, one that saw their defense take center stage.
At the near-halfway point of the season, the Roughnecks look virtually impenetrable on both sides of the ball. Brandon Silvers put together another multi-touchdown performance against Orlando and the offense compiled a season-high point total despite the absence of versatile RB Max Borghi (knee). This matchup should prove to be much more of a test. The Dragons’ defense looked improved against San Antonio. And, Seattle’s own potent offense is coordinated by June Jones, who Roughnecks playcaller A.J. Smith worked under in Houston back in the 2020 XFL season.
That Sea Dragons offense didn’t quite look as impressive versus the Brahmas as they had a week prior. But, Ben DiNucci still got the job done and continued to display plenty of chemistry with top three pass catchers Josh Gordon, league-leading receiver Jahcour Pearson and Blake Jackson. Morgan Ellison also came back from a Week 3 leg injury to put together another solid effort on the ground. Seattle’s offensive line has notably done an excellent job pass-protecting as well while allowing just four sacks through four games.
Despite what could be a tough road environment, Houston is a three-point favorite as the week begins.
DC Defenders at St. Louis Battlehawks
The Dome at America’s Center; St. Louis, Missouri
The Defenders kept pace with the Roughnecks on Sunday night by remaining undefeated themselves with a 32-18 win over the Vipers. The Battlehawks got back in the win column earlier in the day in front of a 38,000-plus home crowd, dispatching the Renegades by a 24-11 score.
Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu has rebounded nicely following an ugly Week 2 performance where he couldn’t crack 100 passing yards. The spring league vet has completed 25 of 39 passes for 373 yards with a touchdown while adding 111 rushing yards and another score in the subsequent pair of games. The Abram Smith-Ryquell Armstead backfield duo hasn’t been quite as impressive during that span, but head coach Reggie Barlow has shown an impressive commitment to the running game that should put some significant pressure on a talented Battlehawks defense.
St. Louis’ offense appeared to benefit from the energy of a raucous home crowd in Week 4. The Battlehawks ultimately finished with 324 total yards and 20 first downs. Running back Brian Hill (89 rushing yards, TD) and receivers Darrius Shepherd (8-91-1) and Hakeem Butler (5-52-1) look like legitimate matchup problems for virtually any defense. However, pass protection will be key in Week 5 — not only have the Defenders collected 12 sacks, but the McCarron has already been brought down 12 times in four contests.
Despite what could be an even bigger crowd in The Dome, the Defenders are two-point road favorites to start the week.

Orlando Guardians at Vegas Vipers
Cashman Field; Las Vegas, Nevada
The Guardians’ frustrations continued in Week 4 with a 44-16 loss to the Roughnecks. The Vipers didn’t really fare any better despite shifting gears at offensive coordinator, making yet another change at quarterback and falling to the Defenders, 32-18.
Orlando appeared to have taken a step forward in Week 3 with a narrow 10-9 loss to the Renegades. The lopsided loss to Houston served as a tangible reminder of how far the Guardians are from the top echelon of teams. Paxton Lynch notably went most of the way at quarterback again in Week 4 and turned in yet another solid stat line (18-30, 267 yards, two TDs). Yet, he also took four sacks and lost a fumble. Recent signee Quinton Flowers, who put up some prolific numbers in his college days at nearby USF, could begin seeing some snaps in Week 5.
Vipers head coach Rod Woodson can empathize with fellow former NFL defensive back and first-time head coach Terrell Buckley. His Vegas squad is also winless and seemingly going in the wrong direction following Sunday night’s two-touchdown loss. Luis Perez, who took over for Brett Hundley early in Week 4, finished with an impressive 283 yards and two touchdowns yet couldn’t really get his team close to victory. The Guardians defense could be the cure for what ails the Vipers if Orlando’s Week 4 performance is any indication.
Despite the dismal start for both clubs, oddsmakers have a lot more faith in a Vipers victory, with Vegas favored by 7.5 points.
Arlington Renegades at San Antonio Brahmas
The Alamodome; San Antonio, Texas
The Renegades continued to field a mostly sluggish offense in Week 4, falling to the Battlehawks by a 24-11 score. The Brahmas had even more trouble scoring points, leading to a 15-6 road loss to the Sea Dragons.
Kyle Sloter did look smoother in his second start for Arlington on Sunday. Nevertheless, the Renegades can’t seem to run the ball effectively despite a pair of talented backs in De’Veon Smith and Kenneth Farrow. The Brahmas have been generally tough versus the run as well and lead the XFL in tackles for loss (28), so the outlook for a balanced attack isn’t exactly bright.
San Antonio’s Jack Coan also bounced back from a lackluster Week 3 to put together a more composed performance in Week 4. That still didn’t translate to any touchdowns, and the Brahmas’ own issues with their ground attack persisted. Kalen Ballage and Jacques Patrick are a formidable 1-2 punch in their own right, and may benefit from facing a Renegades front that allowed the Battlehawks’ Brian Hill an 18-89-1 rushing line in Week 4.
The Brahmas open the week as two-point home favorites while the projected total of 35.5 points is unsurprisingly the lowest of the slate.
