Offaly people urged to shop local this Christmas by Chamber chief

Must read

PEOPLE have been urged to shop local this Christmas in a campaign championed by Tullamore and District Chamber of Commerce and Offaly County Council.

“There is a very clear message that Tullamore is open for business. We have seen many improvements in our town after the past difficult few years and I would like to encourage everyone to think local this Christmas,” outlined Chamber President, Anthony Hanniffy

Added Mr Hanniffy: “Our Christmas vouchers are the perfect gift and are accepted in many businesses throughout the town and I would encourage people who perhaps are unsure of buying a present for a loved to consider buying a Tullamore Quids voucher.”

Tullamore Municipal District has also relaxed car parking charges for the entire month of December in a bid to encourage more people to shop in the county town in the coming weeks.

“Stay local, shop local and click local,” urged the council in a statement this week. “Even in extraordinary times, we can all make a difference,” it added.

As regards parking, the statement said Tullamore town centre street parking and council carparks currently allows for 15 minutes free parking, in a legal parking space, without displaying a valid parking ticket.

This free period will be extended to one hour from Friday, 1st December to Sunday, 31st December 2023.

You can park for up to one hour without purchasing a parking ticket. The one hour free parking, in a legal parking space, will apply to all parking zones below.

Note that a parking ticket must be purchased and displayed after the hour free parking period has expired, if continuing to park, as per the zoned rates below.
