Man arrested over “nasty” burglary of Laois sports club

Gardai have arrested a man in connection with a burglary at a Laois soccer club. 

An appeal for information was issued last week after the burglary at the clubhouse of Portlaoise AFC. 

The clubhouse on the Mountmellick Road was targeted on the night of Tuesday, November 14 into the morning of Wednesday, November 15. 

Gardai said a door was forced open during the incident which they described as a “nasty crime” on a voluntary club. 

They have arrested and charged a man in his 30s in connection with the offence. He will be brought to court at a later date. 

“We want to thank the public for their assistance,” Gardai said.
