Man (20s) hospitalised after Dublin city centre assault as another man charged

A man in his 20s was hospitalised after an assault in Dublin city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man was assaulted at a commercial premises on Liffey Street Lower, Dublin 1 at approximately 12:40am on Sunday.

The man in his 20s was brought to the Mater University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Another man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at a Garda station in Dublin North Central under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Monday at approximately 10.30am.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
