‘I got bullied’ – PL player names former Spurs star as his ‘toughest opponent’ – Spurs Web – Tottenham Hotspur Football News

Must read

Philip Billing has named former Tottenham Hotspur star Mousa Dembele as the toughest Premier League opponent he has ever faced.

The 36-year-old Belgian spent close to seven seasons at the North London club, playing 249 times across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists (Transfermarkt).

Kieran Trippier, the Newcastle United star revealed in a word association game for Sky Sports some time ago named Mousa Dembele as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) even ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

His former boss Mauricio Pochettino under whom Mousa really thrived at Spurs, called him a ‘genius’ and compared him to the likes of Diego Maradona and Ronaldinho (Marca).

Danny Rose said on the Official Tottenham Hotspur Podcast that he thinks Tottenham would have won the Champions League in 2019 had the 36-year-old not left the club that January.

Billing says he ‘got bullied’ by Mousa Dembele

Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Philip Billing has claimed that Dembele is the ‘toughest opponent’ he has come across in the Premier League and revealed getting ‘bullied’ by him.

When asked, “Who has been your toughest Premier League opponent?”

Billing replied, “Mousa Dembele. He was strong, he’s got everything. That’s the first time I felt like I got bullied on the pitch, which we don’t want”

Spurs Web Opinion

Stats don’t do justice to the player Mousa Dembele was on the field. He had his best time at Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino, using his composure, strength, and skill to dominate the midfield area.

Anyone who has played with the Belgian has nothing but praises for him. That said, I don’t think Spurs made the wrong decision in selling Dembele when they did as he became injury prone and was showing signs of slowing down. The world must put more respect on his name though.
