Boys Basketball

Gateway Charter 64, Wharton 60: Pat Johnson buried a clutch three to seal a win for the Griffins in their season opener. Johnson finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Gabe Timmons added 14 points, five rebounds, five steals, and three assists, while Noah Cutler finished with seven points and eight assists.

SFCA 73, Bonita Springs 39: KJ Patton Roarke finished with 22 points for the King’s, while Jake Trottier added 20 points. Carter Whittamore had 17 points, and Brady Moore added 11 points to the winning effort.

Boys Socer

Naples 2, Mariner 1: Cason Shepard broke the ice for the Golden Eagles in the first half, and Aaron Cardenas netted a penalty kick so secure the 2-1 win in the second half. Thomas Castano-Rayo scored the Tritons lone goal in the loss. Federico Buitrago tallied three saves in the net for Mariner.

Gulf Coast 1, Cape Coral 0: Nico Lagrasta, assisted by Santiago Yanes, scored the game-winning goal for the Sharks.

Immokalee 10, Gateway 0: Marvens Blanc led the Indians with three goals and one assist, while Yoel Barrera added two goals and four assists. Fredlin Basile had two goals and one assist, and Benslone St. Julien added two goals. Brihan Rodriguez had one goal and one assist, and Sergio Mazariegas had one goal. Ricardy Pierre and Jumson Jorecly added one assist each to the shutout win.

Girls Soccer

Gulf Coast 2, Cape Coral 1: Abigail Craig scored both of the Sharks’ goals, assisted by Madisyn Brouillard and Paige Norris.

Aubrey Rogers 6, Lely 2: Kendall Persich, Angie Burberry, Sheli Bershadski, Rafa Border Villazon, Sofia Castle, and Lauren Gorsline all scored one goal each as the Patriots improved to 5-1-1 in their first year as a program. Aoife Bowe and Jenna Andre scored for the Trojans, while Ava Ferreira finished with an assist.
