A number of international and Irish-based candidates to be the FAI head of women’s and girls’ football have been put off from applying because it has changed from a permanent to a fixed-term job. The association has refused to say what length of contract it is offering.

The development role was filled by Eileen Gleeson on a permanent basis in January last year, but she gave up her “dream job” at the end of August to take over as interim manager for the women’s national team after Vera Pauw’s departure.
