Bangladesh Cricket Board leaves Tamim Iqbal out of central contracts list | Cricket News – Times of India

Bangladesh’s sidelined opener Tamim Iqbal finds himself absent from the Bangladesh Cricket Board‘s (BCB) central contracts list for 2024, raising doubts about his future in international cricket.
The former captain, Tamim, who had announced his retirement from international cricket last July, swiftly reversed his decision within 24 hours following an appeal from Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Tamim’s initial retirement stemmed from strained relations with Nazmul Hassan, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who had criticized the southpaw’s professionalism.
The BCB’s decision to omit Tamim from the central contracts list on Monday signals his exclusion from their plans for 2024.
Among the 21 cricketers receiving central contracts, Shoriful Islam and the new captain Najmul Hossain Shanto secured all-format deals.
Taskin Ahmed, the right-arm pacer, has been dropped from the Test contract, reportedly by his choice, but retains contracts for ODIs and T20Is.
Apart from Tamim, Ebadot Hossain, Afif Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain have also been left out of the central contracts list.
Towhid Hridoy, Tanzim Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Naeem Hasan and Nurul Hasan are the fresh inclusions in the central contracts.
Additionally, during the meeting, the BCB sanctioned salary contracts for 85 first-class cricketers.
Central contracts list:
